Research Area:	My research work focuses on Chinese-related Natural Language Processing, its theory, technology and application, including: · Chinese Lexical Analysis · Chinese Syntax Analysis · Semantic Processing · Statistical Language Model · Lexicon and Corpus · Machine Translation · Information Extraction · Large Scale Resource Construction for Chinese Language Processing and Intelligent Interaction · Evaluation Technologies for Chinese Language Processing and Intelligent Interaction
Research Activities:	· 2004~now: “Statistical Chinese-English Machine Translation”, project director. This project has been supported by China’s National "863" programme, and National Natural Science Foundation of China.  We got high rank in the NIST 2006 & 2009 machine translation evaluation and published more than 10 papers in the top conference ACL(05-09). · 2003-2005: “HTRDP Technology Evaluation on Chinese information Processing and Intelligent Human-Machine Interface”, technical director. The evaluation is a yearly activity supported by the China's national "863" programme. · 2003-2005: “Large Scale Resource Construction for Chinese Information Processing and Intelligent Human-Machine Interface”, technical director. This project was supported by China’s National "863" programme · 2003-2005: “Resource Construction and Technical Evaluation for Multilingual Information Service System for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games”, technical director.  This project is supported by Beijing City Government. · 2002: “Chinese Natural Language Processing Platform” (http://www.nlp.org.cn), project director, webmaster. · 2001~2003: “ICT Chinese Lexical Analysis System (ICTCLAS)”, project director.  The system ranked No.1 in several tracks in the 2002 open evaluation held by steer committee of National 973 Plan and the international SigHan2003 Chinese Word Segmentation Bakeoff. · 2000~2004: “News-oriented Chinese-English Machine Translation System”, technical director. This project was supported by China’s National "973" Plan. · 1993~2000: “Chinese-English Machine Translation System”, project director. This project was supported by China’s National "863" programme. The system ranked No.1 (of 3) in National Evaluation of Intelligent Human-Machine Interface System in 1998. · 1990~1992:  “Intelligent English-Chinese Machine Translation System”, core member.  The system won the First Prize of National Technological Progress. · Also conducted researches on Chinese Named Entity Recognition System, Chinese Parsing System, Chinese New Word Detection, Chinese-English Bilingual Lexicon, Chinese-English Parallel Corpus, Computer-Aided Translation System, Chinese-Mongolian Machine Translation System, Topic Detection and Tracking System, etc.
